Parents should contact the office during the pregnancy or just after the child is born. Baptisms are the 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month after the 10:30 AM Mass or by appointment.

Eucharist is the foundation of our faith. It is through the weekly celebration of the Mass with our faith community that we are united with the life, death and Resurrection of Christ. First Communion is ordinarily celebrated in level two. The child must have completed one year in religious education in order to begin this year of preparation for the sacrament. Parents and children are required to attend three Sunday sessions, plus a retreat.  

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is offered each Saturday afternoon from 4:00 p.m. until 4:40 p.m. in the Reconciliation Room located in the Eucharistic Chapel. Reconciliation can also be done by appointment. Just call the office. During Advent and Lent, our Religious Education students, of proper disposition, have reconciliation offered to them during their class time. Two special times are also set for the parish during these liturgical seasons, one on a Saturday evening and one at Noon on a Wednesday. 

Reconciliation is about God’s love and forgiveness. Catechesis for the Sacrament of Reconciliation begins in level 1 as children start to look at the choices they make in their daily lives and evaluate them as loving or unloving acts. Our Sacramental Program for Reconciliation is held in level four, though in accordance with Canon Law we invite children in levels 2 and 3 to prepare for this sacrament, if parents feel their child is ready. Confirmation is a celebration of the Holy Spirit for the whole faith community. Parents and sponsors are an integral part of this journey in faith. Our Parish Program is based on the RCIA model. Preparation begins with instruction in junior high followed with formation and final preparations culminating with an October celebration. Confirmation is currently every other year, though this will change to every year after 2016. To register online or contact Shirley Widner, Coordinator of Religious Education.

Couples desiring to be should contact the pastor or deacon prior to setting any date. The date will be set when all preparation requirements have been discussed with them. Contact should be made at least 6 months prior to the anticipated date. Couples usually have at least 3 sessions at the parish with the Pastor or Deacon. All are required to complete the Archdiocese of Chicago Pre-Cana course. Weddings normally have a rehearsal the night before at 6:30 p.m. Weddings are scheduled according to available times. Weddings are normally not allowed on Sunday at Our Lady of Hope. 

Anointing of the sick is administered by a priest to bring spiritual and even physical strength during an illness, especially near the time of death. If you have a loved one who is gravely ill and would like to receive this Sacrament please contact the parish office (847) 825-4673.  Communal anointing service date to be announced. All persons suffering from ailments are invited. Assistance is given to those needing rides and special help. Anointings, in emergency situations, can be arranged by calling the parish office. Please, in emergency situations, call the paramedics, if needed, before calling the parish.

RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) — If you would like to learn about the Catholic Faith, you are an adult and have not received all of the sacraments, or if you have been away from the church and would like to understand the changes, RCIA may be right for you. Our RCIA Catechumenate Program begins in September and conclude at the Easter Vigil. Contact the Parish Office for more information. RCIC (Rite of Christian Initiation for Children) — We hold RCIC sessions for children who are at the age of reason, (7 years old), and have not yet been baptized. Sometimes children come to us who are past the age of our sacramental preparation programs yet have not celebrated Eucharist or Reconciliation. Others have had no previous religious training or have missed a number of religious education years. These families are invited into this special program that meets once each month, October through April, to share basic Catholicism and prepare for the sacraments.
